THE GREAT LARTH CYCLE ROUTE – An adventure in the borderlands between Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio

The Great Larth Cycle Route is much more than just a cycle route: it is a profound immersion in the ancient charm of Etruscan lands. A journey by bike where three regions meet: Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany.

The Great Larth Cycle Route is 370 kilometres long and features an elevation gain of approximately 8,000 metres. In the saddle, cyclists follow the paths and ridges once ruled by the ancient Etruscans, linking the majestic cliff of Orvieto to the fortified villages, hidden necropolises and medieval castles that characterise the area. The extraordinary common thread running through this grand loop is the constant and evocative presence of water. The route winds its way through and caresses aquatic landscapes of rare beauty: from the Alviano nature reserve, a lakeside haven for dozens of bird species, to the picturesque shores of Lake Corbara, passing along the meandering course of the River Tiber, from the crystal-clear streams at the valley floor to the great volcanic basins such as Lake Bolsena.
